We need a gallery sales assistant to work 12 to 6 Wednesday to Friday, and 10 to 3 Saturday.  This is initially a temporary position to cover extended leave for one of our permanent staff, with an option to continue on part time.  

Duties are customer sales and service with an emphasis on the jewellery gallery, and general gallery duties related to care and display of exhibitions and stock work.

Person specification

As we are a small team, we are looking for someone who will fit in and enjoy working with us.  The right person will:

  • have a mature and positive attitude
  • enjoy people and be able to deal with a wide range of customers and artists,
  • be physically fit and able to carry out the heavier duties such as packaging and carrying objects, arranging exhibitions and displays, and be willing and able to climb a ladder when needed,
  • have a genuine interest in and some knowledge of New Zealand handmade jewellery and artist jewellers,
  • have previous customer sales experience.
