Victoria McIntosh

Victoria McIntosh was born in Dunedin in 1971 and has twice attended the Dunedin School of Art , graduating in 1991 with a DFA in Printmaking, and again in 2005 with a BFA in Jewellery and Metalsmithing.

She is a compulsive collector and hoarder and has always been drawn to objects that carry a sense of hstory. Dunedin’s second hand shops provide rich hunting grounds for overlooked treasures that form the basis for much of her work.

Tucked away in my studio I bring together the skills I was taught as a child around the kitchen table with those later –learnt skills at the jewellers bench.

McIntosh’s work  has been included in many group exhibitions throughout New Zealand and her solo shows include::My Invented History, 2010; Smother, 2010; Blemish, 2014. In 2016 she was one of two jewellery artists chosen to represent NZ at Schmuck , Munich, Germany.

Her work can be found in major public and private collections in New Zealand and overseas, including: the Kobayashi Collection, Tokyo; The Auckland War Memorial Museum, Auckland; The Dowse Art Museum, Wellington; the Department of Foreign Affairs, Wellington, NZ; The Wallace Collection, NZ.
