This body of work was made by John Dawson during a visit to New Zealand from his long-time home in London. It continues a theme developed over many years of movement within a musical context.
In Baroque music a performer is given a simple line of music which they then interpret in their own way, making each performance unique. I work in the same way with my ceramics. The movement in the work is accentuated by the tranquility of the celadon glaze I use.
