Kobi Bosshard and Peter McKay

31 March - 14 April 2015

"In life, if we are lucky, we get opportunities to become something different to what would normally be the case.

My opportunity came in 1968 when I went to work with Kobi and learned to work as a jeweller.

A bit like a pebble picked off a beach really. "

The work in this exhibition represents a shared history of friendship and professional association spanning almost 50 years.

Kobi Bosshard and Peter McKay have both played pivotal roles in the development of contemporary jewellery practice in New Zealand.

For both Kobi and Peter the pieces in this show are a collection of enduring work; honed and polished by a lifetime of experience and practice.

The work is different but linked by high quality craftsmanship on which both artists place high value.

"To me what is important is the quality of the craftmanship and that's where Peter and I share the same vision and values.

I also include in craftsmanship decisions about judgement, technical and aesthetic...one of the great rewards now is not just having a show but being able to have a show with Peter."
