Frances Stachl

Frances Stachl was born into a creative family - her mother being a painter and print maker and her father (an Austrian) who regaled his family with mythical tales.  Both were idealists and Frances and her sisters received encouragement as creative individuals.  After some experimentation with jewellery Frances attended Whitirea Polytechnic and graduated in 1999.

Frances enjoys working with metals and her work demonstrates not only her enjoyment but an absolute knowledge of jewellery techniques with great attention to detail.  Her necklaces are well considered and beautifully executed being things of beauty and eminent wearability.

In 2007, Frances won a competition to create the commemorative medal for the patillo Scholarship, an award for students at  at  Whanganui's Quay School of the Arts, UCOL.  See: The patillo medal
