Christine Cathie - Flourish

Flourish merges two practices that have been part of my career - an interest in calligraphy from when I was a graphic designer, and the last 17 years of working in cast glass.

I am interested in how I can translate the immediacy and fluidity of the calligraphic pen stroke into three dimensions with the glass, to convey a pen’s twist and sweep in variations of thickness and angles, and to give the pieces a lightness and freedom of movement.
