Chris Weaver

Chris Weaver has earned a reputation as one of New Zealands best potters over a career spanning 35 years.  His formal training was completed in 1976 when he graduated with a Diploma in Fine and Applied Arts with Distinction in Design and Sculpure, Certificate in Ceramics - Otago polytechnic School of Art, Dunedin.

He has been a constant winner of awards and exhibition honours throughout his career.

In 2001, he was one of five international guests for the Ceramic Arts Association of Western Australia "Is the Dinner Party Dead?" symposium and exhibition.

Since 2006, he has been invited to China on 3 separate occasions, once as the invited Ceramic Artist - Workshop on Contemporary Tableware, Taipei County Yingge Ceramics Museum; in 2007 as one of the six New Zealand ceramic artists in residency at the Fule International Ceramic Art Meseum, Fuping; and in 2009 as invited Ceramic Artist - Huaguang Design Symposium, Zibo. 

In 2010, he was invited to be Artist in Residence at the Sturt Arts Centre, Mittagong, NSW, Australia.

Chris's work is represented in private collections and museums throughout New Zealand, and in Australia, China and Japan
