In this wonderful new show, accomplished ceramic artist Christine Thacker has produced a moody and contemplative, monochromatic body of ceramic, painted jug forms and tiles.
While some tiles continue with Thacker’s enduring theme of male faces in repose, the vessels’ imagery is a move away from her past practice of depicting pictorial landscapes to the semi-abstract.
For Thacker, the impulse to paint the ceramic work she makes is “…overwhelming…the painting is as important as the form.”
